9Cr18MoV is a high-class stainless steel, which is martensitic. It contains 0.9% carbon, 18% chromium and additional elements of molybdenum and vanadium.
The chemical composition of 9Cr18MoV is as follows;
With a hardness of 58-60 HRC, 9Cr18MoV has good edge retention and wear resistance, as well as good corrosion resistance. It is mainly used in stainless steel slices, mechanical edge tools, surgical knives, and highly wear-resistant equipment parts.
It is also because of the high hardness, good toughness and wear resistance of 9Cr18MoV that also affects its machining performance. The use of traditional grinding wheels and traditional formulations often results in noisy grinding and immovable grinding.
Especially in the wire groove grinding of linear guide and micro guide, due to a large amount of tool feed and the requirement of grinding wheel with good conformability and sharpness. Therefore, how to choose the right abrasive and the correct hardness and organization is a key step to making a good grinding wheel.
After communicating and testing with many customers, we recommend the use of
green silicon carbide grinding wheels and
single crystal corundum grinding wheels, or
white corundum single crystal corundum mixed abrasive grinding wheels, and chrome corundum single crystal corundum mixed grinding wheels in the grinding of stainless steel guide wire grooves. The grinding wheel's hardness should be softer to ensure its sharpness of the grinding wheel.
The cup type white corundum grinding wheel, grinding stone is used for surface grinding, internal grinding, cylindrical grinding, centerless grinding, tool grinding, etc.
