At More Super Hard, we recently worked with a customer who required high-quality surface finishing for their Connecting Rod Kit, manufactured using tool steel. The customer's specific requirements were to achieve a roughness measurement of Ra0.2 or better, ensuring a smooth surface with no visible scratches.

To meet these requirements, we employed our expertise in precision grinding and recommended our customer the vitrified CBN internal grinding wheel with a granularity of 1500#. The customer operated at around 3500 rpm and executed the grinding process, aiming to fulfill the customer's expectations.

                                   

Upon testing the finished workpieces, we are told that our vitrified CBN internal grinding wheels successfully achieved a surface roughness of Ra0.16, surpassing the specified requirement of Ra0.2. However, they did observe the presence of some minor scratches on the surface of the workpieces.

While the scratches resulting from their grinding wheels were significantly smaller compared to other products used by the customer, we understand the importance of continuously improving our product's performance. After conducting a preliminary analysis, we attribute the occurrence of these scratches to a combination of factors, including the characteristics of the vitrified bond, low bending strength, and high cellulose content of the grinding wheel.

In light of these findings, we are committed to enhancing our product's quality and addressing this issue promptly. One of our proposed solutions involves reducing the cellulose content in the grinding wheel, thereby improving its sharpness and reducing the likelihood of scratches appearing on the workpiece surface.

Despite this minor setback, our products still demonstrate a clear advantage over competing grinding wheels, as the observed scratches are significantly less pronounced. We appreciate our customer's understanding as we work diligently to refine and optimize our grinding wheel to meet their exacting standards.
