Different Composition:

Chrome corundum: its composition is mainly α-alumina, also called red corundum, ruby. Nowadays, it is mostly artificial red corundum on the market. Red corundum is made of 22% chromium on the basis of white corundum, which is melted by electric arc furnace and has purple-red color. Hardness is slightly higher than brown corundum, similar to white corundum, microhardness can be 2200-2300Kg/mm2.
Brown corundum: common name is also known as adamantine, is made of bauxite, carbon materials, iron filings three raw materials in the electric furnace after melting reduction of brown artificial corundum, so this name, the appearance of brown, toughness, microhardness in 1800-2200Kg/mm2, bulk density ≥ 3.85g/cm3. brown corundum main chemical composition is Al2O3, its content in 94.5% - 97%, and contains a small amount of Fe 97%, and contains a small amount of Fe, Si, Ti, etc. Brown corundum is resistant to high temperature and refractoriness up to 1850℃, and is widely used as refractory and abrasive.
