Recently, there are many customers to consult
Moresuperhard's diamond polishing paste selection and its using methods. Here, we give you a specific introduction to the content of grinding paste, hoping to help you have a deeper understanding of grinding paste!
What is diamond polishing paste?
Diamond polishing paste is a paste-like abrasive, which is a soft abrasive made by combining micronized abrasives with paste-like binders, also known as loose abrasives. Diamond polishing paste is more conducive to the uniform dispersion of abrasives in it, reducing the scratch to the abrasive workpiece.
The characteristic of grinding is that the abrasive keeps rolling during the grinding process, producing both squeezing and cutting effects, so that the convex and concave surfaces become flat and smooth. The bonding agent of abrasive paste is divided into oil and water soluble. Such as PCB circuit board industry, in the process of doing metallography, sample grinding plus a certain degree of fineness of abrasive paste (0.3um), so that its sample mosaic cross-section for observation, more clear under the microscope to reach the test standard.
1. Types of diamond polishing paste
a. According to the solvent
Oil soluble is mainly used for load mechanical grinding, polishing carbide, alloy rigid, high carbon steel and other high hard material parts.
Water soluble is mainly used for fine grinding of metallographic and petrographic specimens, etc.
b. According to the micro-powder diamond polishing paste is divided into:
Corundum type abrasive paste - mainly used for grinding steel parts.
Silicon carbide, boron carbide type abrasive paste - mainly used for hard alloy, glass, ceramics and semiconductor grinding, etc.
chromium oxide type abrasive paste - mainly used for fine polishing or non-metal type grinding.
Diamond type abrasive paste - mainly used for grinding and polishing of tungsten steel moulds, optical moulds, injection moulds, etc.; grinding and polishing during metallographic analysis experiments, grinding and polishing of dental materials (denture), grinding and polishing of dental materials (denture), grinding of high hardness materials such as cemented carbide
2. the characteristics of diamond polishing paste
Diamond/(cubic boron nitride) CBN grinding paste is made of diamond/(cubic boron nitride) CBN micro powder and other raw materials, it is a kind of ideal grinding paste for grinding and polishing, with good lubrication and cooling performance, in which diamond/(cubic boron nitride) CBN particles have high hardness and good grinding effect with uniform particle size.
3. Application range of diamond polishing paste
It is suitable for the processing of gauges, sharpening tools, optical instruments and other high finish workpieces made of high hardness materials such as glass, ceramics, carbide, natural diamonds, gemstones, etc.
Grinding and polishing of tungsten steel moulds, optical moulds, injection moulds, etc.
Grinding and polishing in the process of metallographic analysis experiment.
Grinding and polishing of dental materials (denture).
Grinding and polishing of optical lenses, hard glass and crystals, super hard ceramics and alloys, etc.
4. How to choose the diamond / (cubic boron nitride) CBN grinding paste?
The choice of diamond/(cubic boron nitride) CBN grinding paste is mainly based on the processing workpiece finish requirements and processing efficiency and the original finish of the workpiece to decide.
If the balance is large and the processing efficiency is high, the coarser particle size can be selected; if the balance is small and the finish is high, the finer particle size can be selected.
Apply the polishing paste directly on the polishing cloth, and some people are coated on the finger after applying to the specimen. First use the polishing wheel connecting rod, leverage in the middle of the wool polishing wheel. Put the other end of the polishing wheel connecting rod clamped in the electric grinder to fix. Set the electric grinder to medium speed and polish the wool polishing wheel on the polishing paste, it will become red and then you can polish it. Diamond polishing paste will be applied directly on the polishing cloth, and some people are coated on the finger after applying to the specimen. Throw the number of specimens with many factors related to the material, hardness, area, and want to see metallographic or non-metallic inclusions, non-metallic inclusions, then the corresponding can waste some. I have thrown copper and aluminum gradient material, 1 tube thrown out 2 is good, the key is not good control, aluminum throw good, copper did not throw good. In the middle of the transition place to throw good, pure copper and pure aluminum end did not throw good. If you throw the steel material, the softer the worse to throw.
Note before use the diamond polishing paste:
a. look at the diamond grinding paste is water dilution or oil dilution, generally with oil directly to the grinding paste open
b. After melting, apply to the part to be ground
c. Use hand grinder wool wheel to polish directly
5. What matters diamond / (cubic boron nitride) CBN grinding paste should pay attention to when using?
According to the material and processing requirements of the workpiece, choose the appropriate grinding device and grinding paste. Commonly used grinding device is glass, cast iron, steel, aluminum, plexiglass and other materials made of blocks and plates, diluent water-soluble grinding paste with water or glycerin; oil-soluble grinding paste with kerosene.
a. Diamond / (cubic boron nitride) CBN grinding is a precision processing, processing requirements of the environment and tools are clean and clean, the tools used require each particle size dedicated, not mixed.
b. The workpiece must be cleaned carefully before changing to different grit sizes of grinding paste during processing, so that the coarse particles of the previous process will not be mixed into the fine grit grinding paste and scratch the workpiece.
c. When using, squeeze a small amount of grinding paste into the container or directly onto the grinding device, dilute with water, glycerin or kerosene, generally the ratio of water to paste is 1:1, but can also be adjusted according to the use of the site, the finest particles only need to add a small amount of water, as the particle size thickens the appropriate amount of glycerin.
d. After the grinding is completed, the workpiece should be cleaned with gasoline, kerosene or water.
