Customer Case of Internal Grinding Wheel for Inner Face of Gears Requiring Ra0.05

Recently, Moresuperhard had a customer who needed internal diamond grinding wheels for inner face of gears. Let's see which products of Moresuperhard had met his high needs and how he used our diamond grinding wheels under our advice!
 


1.Workpiece: Inner face of gears.


                                  


2.Mateial: 20CrMnTi with carburization.
3.Hardness: HRC60
4.Grinding allowance: Unilateral 0.1-0.15mm
5.Ra requirement: 0.05 with like a mirror.
6. Grinder RPM: 20000-30000
7.Dressing: Stationary dresser.


                                            


Solution:
1.Wheel size: D50xT7
2.Wheel material: Vitrified bond CBN wheel for rough griniding and resin bond CBN wheel for fine grinding.

                           
                                    

3.The first step removes the excess with a vitrified CBN wheel and leaves a 10-micron allowance. The second step is to use a resin CBN grinding wheel for fine grinding and increase the line speed.


What is Internal Grinding?

The internal grinding process is primarily used to refine internal functional surfaces. For internal diameter grinding operations on stationary machines for grinding the bore and internal track of rings and tubes. The workpiece is fixed and the inner surface of the workpiece is machined with the rotating axle wheel. Grinding may sometimes be performed by rotating the workpiece. Similar to the cylindrical grinding, the grinding method includes taper and end face grinding. Grain types which are most resistant to wear are predominantly selected for the internal cylindrical grinding process. These include cubic boron nitride (CBN), sintered aluminium oxide and various other aluminium oxides.

Features of Resin Bond Diamond Head/Mounted Points:

►Highly durable. Has strong grain and specially formulated organic bond that provides four times greater life compared to aluminum oxide points even while reducing vibration and wheel chatter. It has its own cool grinding properties that reduce the thermal load on any workpiece.
►High removal rates. This is very ideal for removing parting lines, fins, and small risers which come from castings, smoothing, and blending of welded areas. This tool is perfect for heavy-duty edge grinding on stainless steel.
►Sharp cutting. This abrasive tool has two times or a 35% faster-cut rate compared to standard aluminum oxide. It has aggressive, free cut, and can clean more parts in just a short time certainly increasing productivity.
►Best choice tool. Preferable choice of tool for fast stock removal and long life on steels, superalloys, irons, and other metals and materials. It has high-edge holding capability, long service life, and low wear.
►High grinding efficiency. This mounted point has high grinding efficiency and can be used for deburring and tool sharpening. With its special edge holding property, this tool can be applied for low RPM power tools.
